Pelvis The Cause Of Hip & Back Pain In Nairobi - Physiotherapy

Now you have done physiotherapy.. the pain is still there!

And maybe this sounds familiar; hip pain that keeps coming back, you feel pain when walking or turning in bed and lower back pain doesn’t seem to fully go away.

Then this might be the real problem you’ve not been told about.

Pelvis As Cause Of Lower Back & Hip Pain

As an orthopedic physiotherapist, one of the most common things I see is that pain is not always coming from the place your are having it or feeling it.

So as much as you have hip pain or back pain it may not be a typical pain from this places and in most cases if you have done an X-ray or MRI for you will be told they are normal.

Through my studies and clinical practice pain can be from the pelvis.

Your pelvis acts as the foundation of your spine, when it is not moving well or is slightly misaligned your lower back over works, your hips compensate and pain keeps returning.

And this is why general treatments don’t last for long.

Why Pelvis?!

  1. Your pelvis controls the back, if it tilts forward your back arches too much when it does tilts backwards your spine flattens and both increase pressure on your back and joints.

  2. Your pelvic joints can be too “loose” or too “stiff”, if they happen to be too loose which is common in women after pregnancy on the other hand stiffness is as a result of muscle spasm or muscle tightness these can cause pain in the hips, buttocks and lower back.

  3. Your muscles may be pulling your pelvis out of balance which result to uneven loading and recurring pain.

Signs Pelvis Is The Problem

Usually many people present with;

  • Pain when turning in bed.
  • Pain when walking or standing.
  • Pain on one side of the hip.
  • Heavy feeling in the pelvis.
  • Lower back pain that won’t go away after medical clearance from other conditions.

Why Other Treatments Fail

The truth is if the pelvis is not assessed properly, the real problem will be missed.

You may stretch, strengthen, get temporary relief but if the joint mechanics are not corrected the pain will return.

Final Advice

Stop managing pain. Start fixing the cause.
